CV-46 DEBUGGER-4 

Function Description:

* CV-46 is the development of DEBUGGER-3-4 CARD model: CV-36, 37, 38,

43L, 44L, 45L.

* Suitable for PC 286/386/486/586/PII/PIII... compatible system.

* LED inductor: RST(RESET DRV), RDY(I/O CHECK READY), MEMR, MEMW, IOR,

IOW, +5V, -5V, +12V, -12V.

* Chose RUN(RUN POST=Power-On-Self-Test), ERROR CODE display:

(1) DIGITs display for hexadecimal.

(2) Offer two I/O PORT 80H and 300H check point.

(3) Setup AEN signal HIGH/LOW or ENABLE/DISABLE.

A. Hardware Debug: Read BIOS check point value, compare with BIOS ERROR CODE

MESSAGE, will know defective position.

B. Software Debug: Use CV-46 for CHECK POINT display, can WRITE value to it, no

need to interrupt program execution.

* Chose TR(single step TRace) for Step by step(trace) function:

Use digits display A0-A23 ADDRESS BUS and D0-D15 DATA BUS in hexadecimal.

(1) When ERROR CODE display nonsense code 00 or FF, can use CV-46 to check

ADDRESS BUS and DATA BUS circuit correct or not.

(2) Can trace BIOS operation.

(3) Can check ADDRESS BUS or DATA BUS circuit open/short or not.

(4) Can check ADDRESS BUS or DATA BUS shortage with other signals or not.

(5) Will know real address when system halted.

* 16BIT DATA read/write function display in D0-D7, D8-D15 position.

* Define address function:

(1) Can define DECODE ADDRESS from 000000H to FFFFFFH.

(2) Can choose I/O PORTS(=IOR/IOW) or MEMORY PORTS(=MEMR/MEMW)

decode.

(3) Can check I/O PORTS or MEMORY PORTS read/write value to Mother board,

ADD_ON and Software debug.

* Latch function: Can use ADDR(ADDRESS), D0-7, D8-15, IOW, IOR, MEMR, MEMW,

AEN(H/L), AEN (DISABLE/ENABLE) setup to latch, also can execute step by step

function after latch.

(1) Latch function: can use two DEBUGGERs to compare signals for mother board repair.

A. One install in good motehr board, another to bad board, after power on two mother

boards will latch at the same borken point.

B. After latch, measure mother board's circuit signals by OSCILLOSCOPE, will find all

HIGH-LEVEL, LOW-LEVEL signals except CLK, these are great helpful for you to

compare exactly with every circuit signals, and to know OPEN/SHORT or not.

C. After latch, change two DEBUGGERs to execute step by step function, and compare

value of ADDRESS and DATA, will know open/short or not.

(2) Latch function to ADD_ON card debug:

A. Connect ADD_ON card's D-SUB connector to RS-232 TESTER or CHECK TESTER.

B. Setup I/O PORT address.

C. Run read/write command, or execute test program, after latch compare data code of

CV-46 and ADD_ON card, will know ADD_ON card decode circuit and data

read/write circuit correct or not.

(3) Latch function to Software debug:

A. Setup debug address.

B. After latch to execute step by step function, will know ADDRESS, DATA correct or not.

CV-47 DEBUGGER-4 

* All functions, operations, testing same as CV-46.

* Difference: With LED and DIGITs synchronous display ADDRESS BUS and DATA BUS,

easier to know all the status.
